The Journey Behind Loving Tails

Thoughtful care for every tail.

The heart behind Loving Tails

Growing up surrounded by animals, I always knew my future would somehow involve caring for them.

At one point, I considered studying veterinary medicine, but I quickly realised that although I deeply loved animals, I wouldn’t be able to cope with the surgical side of the profession. I began exploring other paths that would still allow me to work within the world I felt most connected to.

At the time, opportunities within the animal care industry in Lisbon — where I’m originally from — were limited, so I pursued a degree in Nutritional Science, another subject I had always been passionate about. Although I enjoyed my work, I still felt something was missing. Deep down, I hadn’t let go of my dream of building a life around animals.

That journey truly began when I started working part-time for a small dog walking company. During summers, I also volunteered in kennels, where I gained valuable insight into canine behaviour, communication, and the ways past experiences can shape an animal’s confidence and personality.

Later, after moving to the countryside, we opened a small dog boarding and daycare setting, which became a turning point in my journey. It was there that my passion for learning truly expanded. I immersed myself in courses, webinars, training classes, and hands-on experience, always striving to better understand animal welfare, behaviour, enrichment, nutrition, and the human-animal bond.

I worked alongside breeders, catteries, rescue environments, daycare settings and pet professionals, while continuously researching countries where the pet care industry was more developed so I could continue growing my knowledge. The United Kingdom quickly stood out as one of the places leading the way in modern pet care and canine education.

Long Before

Animals were always part of home, comfort, and some of my happiest childhood memories. Long before Loving Tails existed, I was already learning the quiet connection and companionship animals bring into our lives.

After moving from Lisbon to the countryside, that connection only grew deeper. Being outdoors, surrounded by nature and animals, quickly became where I felt most at peace — and where I still feel happiest today.

From goats and rescued animals to my family’s small snail farm supplying France, I grew up surrounded by care, responsibility, and the slower rhythm of countryside life — experiences that quietly shaped the heart behind Loving Tails long before the name ever existed.

Nine years ago, I made the decision to move to the UK to continue building my experience and education within the industry I loved so much.

Since then, I’ve worked with dog walking companies, dog daycares, boarding settings and rescue centres — experiences that ultimately gave me the confidence to take the leap and create Loving Tails Pet Care.

Loving Tails was built with one simple mission:
to provide thoughtful, enriching and genuinely compassionate care for every pet.

Today, Loving Tails offers professional yet deeply personal pet care services designed to help pets feel safe, happy, calm and truly cared for — while giving owners complete peace of mind.

Everything we do is built on trust, kindness, ongoing education, and meaningful relationships with both pets and their people — relationships we hope will last a lifetime.

For me, pet care was never just about walking dogs.

It was about building trust, understanding behaviour, and creating genuine connection.
